Here's an excellent resource that will help you think about how higher education may change in the next few years.

  1. Interesting article.... I have not implemented a flipped classroom but would love to one day. I have, however, created an iTunes U course for my classroom.

  2. Cool Armandina! How did it go? I have never heard of the term flipped classroom, although I think I have stumbled upon its practices as a teacher and student. This focus on cognition makes sense to me. I think it offers lots of opportunities for transfer and sequencing. However, I wonder if overlapping and interacting in the hybrid spaces all the time (f2f with online too) may not cause cognitive overload for both students and teachers. I am just beginning to rethink and relearn how to adapt study habits as a student and adapt ways of interacting with my students that go beyond the classroom. Is teaching moving in the direction of on-call doctors (PhD)?

  3. I came to the flipped classroom concept from online teaching. I was scheduled to teach a f2f course. I designed the course as an online course, scheduled the course in a computer classroom, then spent the semester walking around and talking to students while they worked on individual and group projects. It was the most fun I've ever had teaching.
